We recognize that language evolves. In today’s world, yoga is often used to describe practices like breathwork, stretching, and meditation—tools that support holistic well-being. The word is used as a catch-all, blanket term. While the term may be familiar, our purpose calls us to refine and clarify our intentions. For others, yoga is viewed as deeply rooted in ancient Eastern philosophy, inseparable from its historical and spiritual origins. While we’ve admittedly viewed the practice and term loosely in the past through a Westernized lens, we honor the perspectives of those who take a different view.
Our focus is not to take a stance on the debate around yoga, as that takes away from our essence. Our purpose is clear: to help people live healthier, more embodied lives through practices that support body and soul while anchoring in Truth, centered in Christ. We’re not attached to the term, the philosophy, or any interpretation of what yoga has become. We must use language that more clearly reflects the essence of what we do here at Sol Soul Sole. Where we are on our walk, Mindful Movement is what embodies our work.
Mindful Movement is a way of intentionally tuning into the present moment for physiological, neurological, mental, and emotional benefit, all to honor the Holy Spirit who dwells within. The body is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). Just as a vehicle needs care to function well, the human body requires maintenance: strengthening, stretching, breathing, and rest in order to carry out its purpose. All parts work together and need enough support to function optimally.
Think of your phone. It’s a tool for communication, navigation, and connection. But without a charge or proper care, it’s just glass and metal. In the same way, Mindful Movement is a way to recharge and realign the body to its purpose.
We are called to steward these human vessels well. When awareness is brought to breath and movement, the body is recalibrated.
Science continues to affirm what has long been known through lived experience and faith: Mindful Movement regulates the nervous system, strengthens and lengthens muscles, improves postural alignment and balance, and supports mental and emotional well-being.
Transformation is a continual journey. Guided by the Holy Spirit, rooted in the Word, and fueled by a commitment to serve, we offer Mindful Movement as a recalibration tool used for healing, growth, and union with God.
